Kurdish women's campaign to regain their identity
I dedicated my latest report on NRT to the Iranian Kurdish Women's Campaign to Reclaim Their Identity.
In a new campaign, these women activists are trying to equalize the rights of men, including the names of the fathers and the names of the mothers.
Earlier in Afghanistan, a similar company called Where is My Name was successful.
In Iraqi Kurdistan, a similar campaign is underway under the name My Name is My Mother's Name.
My report on this:

Thailand protests and its symbol
Pictures of pro-democracy protests in various Thai cities show a ubiquitous movement; Raise your hand with three fingers.
What are these three index fingers and where do they come from?
The three-fingered protests are not specific to recent demonstrations, but have been seen in Thailand in recent years.
In 2014, when protesters protested against an army coup, they used a similar symbol. The military at the time banned the display of three fingers, saying those who made such a move would be dealt with.
In the Hollywood movie The Hunger Games, the participants in a TV game that is played to the satisfaction of the ruling minority and the game watchers are forced to physically eliminate each other. Whenever they lose a member of the group, they hold their hand up with three fingers to pay tribute to him or to say goodbye to the lost friend.
In Thai protests, protesters use the same symbol to protest against the ruling minority.
Criticism of the royal family is not common in the Kingdom of Thailand, but this time, protesters not only want the government to resign, but also demand that the king be held accountable and that his wealth and powers be limited.
During a pre-planned demonstration on October 14 this year, a car carrying the Queen and Prince of Thailand unexpectedly and unintentionally entered the protest route, and protesters surrounded the yellow limousine by raising a three-finger symbol.
At the same time as the pro-democracy demonstrations, supporters of the monarchy are gathering in different parts of #Thailand these days and chanting slogans.

The razor of censorship on the neck of thought .. The books of Yuval Noah Harari were banned in Iran
Once again, the ruling regime in Iran has proven that it has a long-standing enmity with different ideas and opinions.
This time, the censorship of the Iranian regime spread to the books of the Israeli writer and historian Yuval Noah Harari.
Iranian media quoted the Tehran Publishers and Booksellers Union as saying that the sale and purchase of Yuval Noah Harari's books in bookstores is prohibited.
"The Iranian government is afraid of free scientific research. But I hope that the Iranian people will find ways to acquire knowledge and express their views."
Yuval Noah Harari, an Israeli writer and historian, wrote these remarks on his Twitter page in response to the news of the banning of his books in Iran.
In a short announcement of the Tehran Publishers and Booksellers Union, mentioning the names of the books of Yuval Noah Harari and their translators, the author of "Suspension of Books" was informed and "any possible prosecution resulting from the sale and purchase" of these books was warned. Is.
These books are: "Wise Man" translated by Nick Gorgin, "God-like man" translated by Zahra Aali, "Sapi Yans" translated by Mohsen Minoo Kherad, "Twenty-One Teachings for the 21st Century" translated by Soodabeh Qaisari and "Money (Capital) Translated by Mehdi Namazian.
Thus, the books of Yuval Noah Harari met the fate of the works of some other world-famous authors who were banned not before their publication in Iran, but after their publication in this country; Not just one or more books, but all of them
For example, Salman Rushdie, a British Indian writer, translated and published some of his books in Iran before his apostasy was issued by Ayatollah Khomeini, and even won a prize for his translator.
Or Paolo Coelho, a famous Brazilian writer who was well known in Iran and even traveled to this country.
Recently, some books by Alif Shafak, a Turkish author, were banned in Iran. One of Shafak's books sold well in Iran, and another was nominated for a Booker Prize this year.
Why was the work of Yuval Noah Harari banned?
The Tehran Publishers and Booksellers Union has not announced in its announcement the reason for banning the works of Yuval Noah Harari; As before, there is no specific reason for banning the works of others.
Despite this ambiguity, some have cited the author's "Israeliness" as the reason for the ban, but despite the anti-Israel nature of the Islamic Republic of Iran, a book by Amos Ouz, a famous Israeli writer, had previously been translated into Persian and published in Iran.
Some have referred to the gay life of Yuval Noah Harari. This reason alone cannot justify the banning of this author's work, as other well-known foreign gay philosophers and writers, such as Marcel Proust or Michel Foucault, have had their works translated or spoken about in Iran.
Others have cited the "atheism" in Harari's work as the reason for the ban. Harari himself has said somewhere that he is hostile to the fruits of the philosophical rationalities of the West in the name of infidelity and atheism. However, the works of Western atheist philosophers and writers are generally and systematically banned in Iran, and even the works of writers such as Nietzsche are relatively bestsellers.
Presenting another conception of religion, questioning it and emphasizing the destructive effects of religious ideologies on individual and social life, according to the censorship of the Islamic Republic of Iran, is the most winning effect of Harari and unforgivable books.
However, it can be said that due to the possibilities of the new world, the spread of the Internet and new publishing methods, it is not possible to delete the works of an author anywhere else in the world.

Freedom House: Governments exploit Corona epidemic to crack down on dissent
Freedom House says in a report released on Wednesday that governments around the world are using the Corona virus epidemic as an excuse to tighten control over the Internet and crack down on dissidents and dissidents. The Internet is down.
"Governments in dozens of countries around the world are stepping up Internet control and using technologies that threaten the privacy and political and civic activity of the people," the Washington-based Freedom House, a Washington-based human rights and political liberties organization, wrote in part. "They justify the need to deal with the spread of the virus."
"These measures have intensified censorship of dissidents and dissidents and tightened control of social media," said researchers at Freedom House.
"As a result of the Corona epidemic, people have become more dependent on the Internet, but at the same time, freedoms on the Internet are declining," Michael Abramovitz, the NGO's director, told AFP. "In the absence of the necessary regulations to protect privacy and the failure to enforce effective laws, these new technologies can serve to intensify political repression."
A survey of Internet freedom in 65 countries by Freedom House shows that Internet freedom has declined over the past 10 years. It uses a 100-point index to assess Internet freedom in each country, which looks at key issues such as barriers to free Internet access, content restrictions, and violations of users' rights.
According to a new Freedom House report, China had the worst performance last year for the sixth year in a row. "The Chinese government is using simple and sophisticated digital technology tools not only to control the news of the Corona epidemic but also to prevent people from accessing independent sources of information," the report said.
The Freedom House report warns that the performance of many countries over the past year shows that the Chinese trend towards "digital tyranny" has increased and that restrictions imposed by each country's government have put the global Internet at risk of "fragmentation."
Freedom House says that of the world's 3.8 billion people who use the Internet, 20 percent live in countries where there is Internet freedom, about 32 percent live in countries with relative Internet freedom, and about 35 percent live in countries where there is relative freedom. Where there is no internet freedom.

George Floyd of Kurdistan .. A young Kurd was shot dead by police in Tehran
His name was Kajvan and he worked in Tehran. He was killed in a police car after being arrested by police. A story similar to the murder of George Floyd by US police.
Kajwan Almasi's uncle, a 30-year-old Kurdish man from Sanandaj, said he had been killed by "two bullets" fired by security forces, but his family had been forced to say he had "drunk and had an accident" in order to receive his body. Iranian officials have not yet commented.
The body of Kajvan Almasi was handed over to his family in Tehran yesterday, and his uncle Kamal Almasi, who lives in Erbil, says that as soon as the body arrived in Sanandaj, the family intelligence agents forced him to bury him at night.
A video has been released in which "despite security pressures", some residents of Sanandaj accompany the body of Kajvan Almasi to the city cemetery.
Two days ago, Kamal Almasi said in a video that Kajvan was "one of the demonstrators in front of Jam Hospital after the death of Mohammad Reza Shajarian" who was arrested and shot in an "information van".
Some media outlets in Iran reported that he had been shot dead by police after being arrested at a "night party in Shahriar."
Now another video has been released of Kamal Almasi, Kajwan's uncle, who says that the body was delivered on the condition that the family announce such news under "pressure", otherwise this news is "false".
Mr. Almasi says that Kajwan was "not political at all" and that it should be clarified how a young man who went to Tehran "under economic pressure" to work in a restaurant escaped from the "van" of the security forces.
Mr Almasi has called for his brother to be "released" and says he has been pressured by his intelligence to say that Kajwan had "accidentally". He also says another person was with his nephew who was injured.
According to a friend of Kajwan who saw his body, "a bullet hit him in the back."
He said that his brother had been asked for information by Sanandaj and that he had been pressured to say that Kajvan's death was accidental.

World Day Against the Death Penalty/This year, 31 Kurdish citizens have been executed in Iran
World Day Against the Death Penalty (10 October) is a day to advocate for the abolition of the death penalty and to raise awareness of the conditions and the circumstances which affect prisoners with death sentences. The day was first organised by the World Coalition Against the Death Penalty in 2003. It has since taken place annually on 10 October.
The day is supported by numerous NGOs and world governments, including Amnesty International, the European Union and the United Nations. On 26 September 2007, the Council of Europe also declared 10 October to be the European Day Against the Death Penalty.
The World Federation of Human Rights Societies has issued a detailed report on the widespread use of the death penalty in Iran, saying "no one is safe."
The report, published on the occasion of October 10, World Day Against the Death Penalty, states that Iran has the highest number of executions in recent decades, after China, and the highest number of child executions.
According to the World Federation of Human Rights Societies, in the last decade alone, 67 people in Iran have ended up with the death penalty, which was considered a child crime at the time.
The death penalty in Iran is one of the main issues being criticized by government critics. Recently, the issuance of death sentences to several protesters in November 1998, as well as the execution of Navid Afkari in ambiguous cases, led to a widespread wave of opposition to the death penalty.
The Paris-based International Federation of Human Rights Societies, an international body of dozens of human rights organizations, has called on the Iranian government to formally suspend all executions until the death penalty is abolished altogether, and to reduce the sentences of convicts. To take.
The report called on the international community, the United Nations and the European Union to support civil society efforts against the death penalty in Iran.
The International Federation of Human Rights Societies says that in many cases, Iranian judiciary officials do not even abide by their own laws, including the rights of those sentenced to death to know the time of execution and the presence of a lawyer.
It has also criticized "brutal methods of execution" and public executions.
This summer, after a long period of news, a political prisoner was executed by firing squad. Hedayat Abdollahpour is one of several political prisoners executed in Kurdish cities in Iran in recent months.
The International Federation of Human Rights Societies has criticized the Iranian government for the death penalty for political and ideological crimes, sexual crimes, theft, economic crimes, and even drinking alcohol.
It called on the Iranian government to consider the abolition of the death penalty as a mere punishment for crimes that are considered "very serious crimes" in international law.
On the other hand, according to the Kurdistan Human Rights Association, 31 Kurdish citizens have been executed in Iran since the beginning of this year.
According to statistics, about 400 people have been executed in Iranian Kurdistan in the last 5 years.

A comprehensive report on the policy of the Iranian government for the forced relocation of six villages in Sardasht
KMMK:
The Border Regiment of the Government of Iran has pressured the residents of six border villages of Sardasht city to evacuate their villages as soon as possible. According to the latest information received, two villages have been evacuated from this complex and its residents have been displaced to other areas.
The villages that the forces of the Iranian Border Regiment have demanded to be evacuated are: "Harzani, Nokan, Gaki, Bardan, Gorehshir and Tate Sofla".
According to the information received from the villagers, the evacuation of the villages will not end only in these few villages, but in the future this danger will increase more villages that are at zero border points or the so-called Iranian government in the "Red Border" area up to 15 km from The boundary zero point must be emptied in the shortest time. A human catastrophe involving unemployment and the homelessness of countless people.
The Islamic Republic of Iran, with its peace and security policy, is trying to change the demographics of this region of Kurdistan and is trying to turn it into an uninhabited region, while the city of Sardasht is one of the few areas with the highest density of villages. They have and most of them are located in border areas.
The proposed plan is a plan with careful planning due to the deprivation of these villages and many neighboring villages, which have any welfare and basic facilities, including education, staff, clinics, communication routes, and not allocating welfare funds to those areas. It has been a long time since the Iranian government is implementing it.
Demographic change due to government policies, change in economic indicators, conflicts, deprivation and killings in the region and especially the current situation despite the epidemic of corona disease, lack of medical care, blocking income routes and the inability of people to pay for living expenses. The lever of the Iranian government is the pressure on the people of those areas to force the people to leave their lands.
Alan village and especially the mentioned villages are the direct route of the border imposed by the governments between East and South Kurdistan. A border that is approximately 20 minutes to an hour on foot. These routes are one of the closest routes to kolbars who work in those areas. An arduous but imposed job for the people of East Kurdistan who are deprived of any job opportunities, infrastructure, economic development and lack of industrial development, but still have to travel and endure the cold and heat of the mountains for a small wage to make a living. They can only live.
The government's treatment of the working class, which includes young people, adolescents, women, middle-aged people, the elderly, and educated people with specialized courses, is only intentional killing, looting, and massacre.
The armed forces of the Iranian government, regardless of age group and the reason for kolbary, by looting mules and horses that have been purchased with savings of several months or years Colburn and their families, and to plunder the load of goods that most of the goods needed by the people They must provide goods that, if not taken to Talan, will be burned by IRGC and border guards, and horses that will be killed or put up for auction in a separate process on the grounds that their reins are in the hands of a Kurdish businessman. They are sold at a high price to their original owners or to those who in the meantime benefit from the misery of this working class.
Intentional injustice in the distribution of facilities and the economy in East Kurdistan, contextual planning that has a catastrophic effect on the personality and identity of individuals, a terrible long-term plan by the Iranian government to penetrate the minds and souls of its children and The canvas is planned so that the only wish left for them is the wish to survive. An old tradition that the Iranian government has shut down any openings in East Kurdistan.
Introducing the honorable and hardworking kolbras as a smuggler and aggressor and ordering direct fire and shooting, ignoring any conscience, systematic indiscriminate killing of kolbras in those borders and thousands of other reasons that make the evacuation of these villages even more mysterious and certain that no There is no security or casualty, but only confirmation of the Iranian government's colonial policies.
The introduction of these villages by the Iranian government in the media with statements such as sparsely populated villages located at the zero point of the border and downplaying the leading problem is one of the constant tricks of the Islamic Republic. But with a little research, the tragedy can be realized in more depth. If the mentioned villages are small, it should be noted that a large number of people, directly and indirectly, including the city of Sardasht and even neighboring cities, are somehow dependent on the income from that border and region.
Cultivation, agriculture, animal husbandry, harvesting of natural products such as wax from the "pistachio" tree, which covers a large part of the forests of Alan district and the mentioned villages, easy passage and movement of villagers and residents in terms of family ties with villages And the cities of southern Kurdistan, the proximity of the region to the cities of Sulaimaniyah, Mautan and Qaladzeh in southern Kurdistan, the traditional trade in the region so that most villages buy most of their daily necessities in neighboring cities, because the cities mentioned are much closer And it is easier than Sardasht itself. The road from Sardasht to Alan village is a long and arduous road, the loss of land, gardens, pastures, water, people who do not have the appropriate job and professional skills in the urban sector are all small examples of future problems caused by this decision.
The main occupation of the inhabitants of these villages is animal husbandry and agriculture. An old job that has always made a living this way. The people living in these villages have large ancestral lands, each of which covers an area of hectares and includes gardens and pure agricultural lands and pastures.
Alan village not only provides its livestock, poultry and agriculture, but also plays an important role in supplying agricultural products, including nuts, saffron and poultry of Sardasht city in four seasons.
With the mentioned cases, the ability to resettle the inhabitants of those areas and compensate the material and psychological damage that is inflicted on the residents of those areas is definitely not compensable. The owners of those farms will no longer be allowed to use the gardens, vineyards and pastures in the restricted areas, and the neighboring villages are not willing to sell their land and certainly do not agree to the common use of other people's pastures in their pastures.
The above may be a response to a letter written by the representative of Sardasht to the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, part of which reads as follows:
Fear and insecurity threaten the residents and dependent people of those areas every day, and that many people become unemployed as a result of this ruling. This means more absolute poverty, which will have more terrible consequences.
The only response of the relevant authorities to calm the people is the promise that according to the law and the estimation of the experts, the damage caused by the evacuation of the villages and lands will be paid after the completion of the administrative steps. However, due to their false history and failure to fulfill the thousands of promises made by the government, the people do not trust the promises and say that they depend on their land, pastures, and agricultural and paternal lands and benefit from them. It is not possible from the facilities and resources of the neighboring village.
People are afraid of losing their ancestral shelter and land and not being allowed to use and live there again, and imagine that after years of living in a certain situation, they will start living somewhere else again at the peak of poverty and from scratch.
The value of those lands for them is not comparable to the promises of the government. The residents of these villages have been eager to live in those villages for many years without any facilities and in difficult traffic conditions.
The other dimension is for business people and people who use that route for business or travel. With the closure of that border, the short one-hour route to enter southern Kurdistan becomes a one-day route from the Haj Homaran (Tamarchin) border, which means several times more costs for the people and businessmen of that region.
Another reason is the people's disbelief in the government's promises and the way the authorities deal with the issue. Without any precautions, an evacuation order has been issued, forcing people to leave their homeland, and on the other hand, in the media, the provincial border commander denies the evacuation notice.
Another view of this issue is the political issue and the importance of the region's geography. "Those areas are tightly controlled through roadside patrols and patrols by the Revolutionary Guards and border forces, and there is a military base on almost every height." However, the Iranian government has not yet been able to control the area 100%.
The six mentioned villages are located near the famous river "Kalwa", which serves as a zero-border area that separates the region into two parts, part in "Alan Sardasht" and another part in "Qaladzeh" of Sulaimaniyah functions in southern Kurdistan. .
By evacuating these six villages, and certainly in the future, the neighboring villages, on the one hand, and on the other hand, will partially block the entry of Kurdish parties and military forces that are aware of the region, and prohibit the passage and control of those areas. He takes it to some extent. With the plan that it intends to implement, that is, the "security belt", the pressure on the oppressed people of Sardasht and its suburbs will increase 100%, and the killing of kolbars and the elimination of people's ownership of their ancestral lands will increase and the aftershocks caused by the implementation of this plan for the people. Those areas will continue.
