The bloodiest year for kolbers... More than 300 kolbers were killed and wounded in 2023

According to the statistics of human rights organizations in Kurdistan, in 2023, more than 300 Kolbers were killed and wounded in the border areas of Iranian Kurdistan. Thus, this year has been the bloodiest year for Kolbaran. Although there are no accurate statistics about the killing and wounding of Kolbers, based on the daily and monthly reports of human rights defense organizations in Kurdistan (such as the Kurdistan Human Rights Network and Kolber News), at least 30 Kolbers have been killed since the beginning of 2023. And nearly 270 kolbers were also injured. More than 80 percent of these statistics are related to the second six months of the year, when 19 people were killed and 220 people were injured. The largest number of Kolbers were targeted in the border areas of Bane and Nosud. In 2022, at least 43 kolbers were killed and 215 kolbers were injured. During the years 2013 to 2022, at least 1,795 Kolbers were killed and injured (546 killed and 1,249 injured), including the statistics of 2023, the number of killed and injured in the last 11 years reaches 2,095 people. Before, 2019 was considered the bloodiest year for Kolbers, in that year 263 cases of killed and injured Kolbers were recorded. Despite the high number of victims, none of the members of Iran's border guard forces have been tried for firing directly at Kolbers. Unemployment, poverty, high prices, inflation and the discriminatory policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran against the Kurdish areas have caused a large number of Kurdish youths to turn to the grueling work of kolbari for a living in exchange for little money.

The performance of Kurdish media in covering the Gaza war

The war in Gaza has been going on for more than two weeks, some observers believe that the Kurdish media has a record of mistakes in covering the news related to this war. In this special conversation with Arslan Rahman, the manager of the Rozhnamawan site, we discussed this issue. Mr. Arslan Rahman believes that the Kurdish media have made serious strategic, ethical and legal mistakes in covering the news of the recent war, and they are the result of the biased coverage of this war, playing with the religious emotions of the audience, the lack of neutrality in the coverage, and the lack of a Kurdish point of view and thematic point of view in the Kurdish media . .. rade more..

Iraqi Kurdistan Independence Referendum.. Achievement or Burning of Independence Card?

Yesterday was the 6th anniversary of the Iraqi Kurdistan independence referendum, although the majority of the participants in this referendum voted for the independence of Iraqi Kurdistan, but due to pressure, the authorities of the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government suspended the results of the referendum. In the last six years, the weight of the Iraqi Kurdistan region in the equations of Iraq and other regions has decreased. If previously the issue of disputed areas and national demands was at the top of the conflicts between Erbil and Baghdad, but now the biggest demand of Delut region from the federal government of Iraq is to provide the salaries of government employees. To analyze what happened in the referendum and the years after, and whether the referendum was a political achievement or a heavy failure, I had a conversation with two Kurdish political activists. These two political activists were and are opponents and supporters of the referendum. ...read more..

Wagner’s Iranian version.. Organizing thugs and mobs to suppress protests and incitement in the region

Iran and Russia, which have close cooperation in Syria, Ukraine and many other areas, are similar in terms of organizing and employing thugs. The head of the private company “Wagner”, which hires mercenaries for foreign wars on behalf of the Russian government, has announced the amnesty of more than five thousand prisoners after participating in the Ukraine war. Yevgeny Prigozhin, the head of Wagner’s military mercenary group, who has been criticized for using prisoners as “cannon fodder” in the war in Ukraine, released a video on Saturday, March 25, and said that more than five thousand prisoners of war with this company They signed a contract and went to war in Ukraine. Dictators have a common disease “blindness”

Dictators have a common disease “blindness”. That’s why they fall in the end! My friend and colleague, the committed and capable journalist Winthrop Rodgers under the title “Iraqi Kurdistan’s House of Cards Is Collapsing” published a report in Foreignpolicy. in front of some of the supporters of the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq tried to distract attention from the contents of report with obscenities and insults. Winthrop’s report is a reflection of the difficult livelihood situation, corruption, mismanagement, discrimination, widespread class differences and the inefficiency of regional officials and the suppression of freedom of expression in the Kurdistan region. Instead of seeing these realities and trying to fix the shortcomings, the authorities of the Kurdistan Region are trying to suppress journalists and critics. Previously, people like Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, the representative of the UN Secretary General in Iraq, warned the authorities of the Kurdistan Region about the consequences of the current governance. read more...
