IFJ General Secretary has condemned the sentencing of Mohammad Mosaed
to prison
The head of the International Federation of Journalists condemned
the verdict against Mohammad Mosaed by calling the Iranian government's
strategy towards journalists "cruel".
Anthony Bellanger said Mohammad Mosaed "did not commit any
crime" and "did his job" as a newspaper.
Mohammad Mosaed, an economic journalist who has been arrested
twice in the past year for his reporting on economic corruption and the
November 1998 protests, has recently been sentenced to four years and nine
months in prison.
According to Mr. Masaed, in addition to his imprisonment, he was
also sentenced to "a two-year ban on journalism after his imprisonment and
confiscation of communications equipment."
The International Federation of Journalists, in addition to
sentencing Mohammad Mohammad Masaed, has also sentenced Nima Saffar, Marzieh
Amiri and Keyvan Samimi.
Nima Saffar, a poet and writer, has been sentenced to eight
months in prison on charges of "propaganda against the regime in cyberspace."

Marzieh Amiri, a reporter for the Shargh newspaper, was arrested
in May 2019 for covering a workers 'rally on International Workers' Day, and
was sentenced by a revolutionary court to 10 and a half years in prison and 148
lashes.
Keyvan Samimi, a 72-year-old journalist and editor-in-chief of
Iran Farda, was sentenced to three years in prison on August 26 on charges of
"conspiracy to act against national security."
According to Reporters Without Borders, Iran is one of the five
largest prisons for journalists in the world.

به‌پێی راپۆرتی رێكخراوی په‌یامنێرانی بێ سنور ئێران یه‌كێكه له پێنج زیندانه گه‌وره‌كانی رۆژنامه‌نوسان له‌سه‌رتاسه‌ری جیهان.
