Amnesty International announced on Tuesday (October 23nd) that Haidar Ghorbani, a Kurdish political prisoner accused of "prostitution", was at risk of execution.
Amnesty International has written to the head of the judiciary, Ibrahim Ra'isi, asking him to overturn the death sentence of Haidar Ghorbani and allow him to be tried fairly.

Amnesty International continues the letter by discussing how Haidar Ghorbani was tried in the Revolutionary Court of Sanandaj and wrote: Haidar Ghorbani was sentenced to death in the Revolutionary Court on February 22 last year on charges of "armed uprising" against the Islamic Republic.
The letter states that while Haidar Ghorbani was convicted of killing three members of the Basij by KDP forces, the court ruled that Haidar Ghorbani had never been armed.
Amnesty International says the sentence is based on "confessions" from the torturer, who said he was the only driver of the car in which the attackers committed the murder.
