Haidar Ghorbani's wife: The international community should help stop my wife's death sentence

Haidar Ghorbani's wife: The international community should help stop my wife's death sentence Sharareh Sadeghi, the wife of Haidar Ghorbani, a political prisoner sentenced to death, has called for international help to stop her death sentence, stressing that her husband was "under the most severe physical and psychological torture." In a video posted on social media on September 20, Ms. Sadeghi called the death sentence handed down by the Revolutionary Court of Sanandaj "arbitrary and unjust" and said that she and her children were living in "the most bitter and unfortunate" situation. Haidar Ghorbani and his brother-in-law, Mahmoud Sadeghi, who lived in a village in Kamyaran in Kurdistan Province, were arrested in October 2006 on charges of "collaborating and assisting in the killing of several members of the Revolutionary Guards." Haidar Ghorbani has also been charged with membership in the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran. The death sentence of Haidar Ghorbani, issued by the Revolutionary Court of Sanandaj, was approved by Branch 2 of the Supreme Court on August 26, and the execution of the sentences was announced. Press TV had previously aired a video of Haidar Ghorbani being forced to confess. According to Haidar Ghorbani's relatives, he was "tortured" and forced to take responsibility for killing several members of the Revolutionary Guards in the film.
