Iran kidnaps leader of Ahwaz al-Nidal group in Turkey

The Arab Movement for the Liberation of Al-Ahwaz announced on Friday, November 30, that the Islamic Republic of Iran had abducted Habib Farjullah Chaab, known as “Habib Asyud”, the group’s former leader in Turkey. The group has accused Iran of “taking Habib Assoud to Turkey and kidnapping him from there with the cooperation of a third country.” Al-Arabiya writes that some sources “have identified Qatar as a third country, while others have said that Ankara has handed over acid to Tehran in exchange for two PKK leaders, but no independent source has confirmed this information so far.” No further details have been released on how Habib Assoud traveled to Turkey and his fate. Officials in the Islamic Republic of Iran have not yet responded to reports of Habib Assoud being “abducted.” In recent years, a number of dissidents of the Islamic Republic have been arrested in neighboring countries and transferred to Iran. In this regard, the family of Jamshid Sharmahd, the leader of the “Thunder” group, announced in August of this year that Mr. Sharmahd was abducted by agents of the Ministry of Intelligence of the Islamic Republic while he was living in Dubai. Ruhollah Zam, the director of Amadnews, who lived in France, was arrested in October last year on a trip to Iraq and extradited to Iran.
